Designed to give the high-quality look of direct embroidery without the commitment, embroidered patches are fully removable emblems with thin or thick merrow stitched borders. Made specifically for application on uniforms, tote bags, hats, and more, our custom embroidered patches are made with high-quality, colorfast, polyester threads and fabrics that are engineered to withstand industrial washes.

Easily sewn onto apparel, embroidered patches can be applied in-house, saving time and money on freight costs. No matter your emblem, patches can be dye cut into custom shapes in a variety of sizes, giving you design and production flexibility for endless possibilities.

Emblem Size Limits

Minimum - 1" x 1" (+/- 1mm)

Maximum - 18" x 11" (+/- 1mm)

Color

Embroidery design cannot have more than 15 different colors of thread,

including overlock, satin and clean-cut border types.

Applique Patches require 100% embroidery with satin border with a minimum size of 0.5” x 0.5”.

Backing

  • Low melt heat seal
  • Industrial heat seal
  • Pressure-sensitive
  • Velcro®

Note: Backing does not cover the merrow border on the emblem.

Limitations

Low melt - Recommended application for thicker materials, such as jackets, and hats that can withstand a heat press and 320° F. Not recommended for use on materials that may be heat sensitive (ex: some nylons, silk, some plastics, leather, wool, fleece, etc.) or for weather-treated materials, due to chemicals used that do not allow the emblems to adhere properly.
Pressure-sensitive -
Recommended application is on flat, non-textured surfaces, including glass, plastic, wood, and metal. Not recommended for application on surfaces that may contain an oil finish, such as silicon, Teflon™, rough fabrics, or outdoor goods.
Velcro® – Both the hook and loop sides are included, with hook side sewn to the patch. Size restrictions adhere to the product’s minimum and maximum dimensions. Merrow or Overlock border required. For emblems larger than 4” height, multiple strips of Velcro will need to be placed side by side.

Minimum Text Size

Embroidered text cannot have a height smaller than 4mm and column width of 1mm.

Thread Cuts

If the separation between one embroidery element and another is greater than 1 mm, a cut must be included to avoid loose or crossed threads. In the case of text, the cut will be made if the separation between letters is equal to or greater than 1mm.

Washing Information

Machine wash inside-out using mild detergent. Patches with industrial heat seal backing will withstand 52 industrial wash cycles. Low melt & Velcro backing will withstand 52 domestic wash cycles.

Shelf Life

One year shelf life before applying (room temperature-controlled environment).

Application Instructions

Pressure-sensitive

  1. Use rubbing alcohol to thoroughly clean the application area
  2. Remove paper backing and press emblem firmly on desired location
  3. After applying pressure, peel the clear top carrier from the emblem

Low Melt Backing with a Top Heat Press - Garments

  1. Set press to 315-325°F for top heat with 70-80 psi of pressure.
  2. Ensure application location is wrinkle-free and place garment onto press.
  3. Place patch onto desired location on garment. Thermal Tape is optional.
  4. Over a FlexStyle® Silicone Pad, turn around garment and load into the heat press.
  5. Press for 14-18 seconds.
  6. Remove garment from press and allow to cool.

Low Melt Heat Seal on Hats - Using the 360 IQ™ Hat Heat Press

  1. Set press to 255°-265°F for top heat and 315°- 320°F for bottom heat with 60-80 psi of pressure.
  2. Place hat on heat press, leaving out the inner layer of the cap. Use adjustment lever for a better grip.
  3. Place emblem onto desired location. To secure the emblem and prevent it from moving, use Thermal Tape.
  4. Press for 15-18 seconds.
  5. Deactivate the adjustment lever and remove the hat from the heat press.
  6. Remove Thermal Tape once the patch has cooled.

Industrial Heat Seal

  1. Set the press at 395°F-405°F for top heat and 395°F-405°F for bottom heat with 60-80 psi of pressure.
  2. Ensure garment is application location is wrinkle-press and place garment in press.
  3. Place patch on desired location. To secure patch and prevent it from moving, use Thermal Tape.
  4. Press for 10-14 seconds.
  5. Remove garment from press and allow to cool.

To determine the size of your emblem, use the following formula:
Size = Width + Height / 2

  • All finishes
  • Heat seal or pressure-sensitive backing

Add-ons

  • 25% increase for metallic thread
  • 10% per color for designs over 6 thread colors
  • 25% increase for Velcro backing
  • 10% for thread colors not available on the World Emblem thread chart
  • $1.65 for each personalization (name droppers)

Production Time

Samples will take 1 day plus shipping. Production time will take 4 days plus shipping on an order up to 2,500 pieces. Add 1 day per 2,500 pieces.
